Failure, Again.
So, things went pretty well yesterday. Breakfast on plan. At lunch, we had our department holiday lunch at a local restaurant. While what I had may not have been 100% on plan (grilled chicken breast with a balsamic glaze, steamed broccoli and a white and wild rice mix) I was pretty happy with how I did. Then I got home. Christmas cookies are all over the counter. Need I say more? I can usually pass these up, but I slipped. No idea why I did and I'm very frustrated that I can't seem to get this under control. Today is a new day and another new start. So far today so good, although I'm startvin marvin and it's only 9:00 am. Lunch is a long way off. Fortunately, I've got a pile of contracts that I need to review today. Nothing like some good legal mumbo jumbo to occupy your time.

Ugh. Christmas Cookies.
I did good yesterday up until about 7:00 pm. SO was making Christmas cookies and needed my opinion on whether or not the anise flavor was strong enough. At first, I just tasted the frosting - you know, just a dab on my finder. Yes, I could taste anise. No, he said, you need to taste it with the cookie to see if it's strong enough. So I took a small bite. No, it wasn't enough. He then left me with the remainder of the cookie and went off to boost the flavor. I immediately thought that I need to throw out the rest of the cookie, but it was so small, and I didn't want to get up off the couch. You know what came next. Ugh. Need I say more?

Let me know if you stop by!
So, this blog is really for me, so that I can keep track of my thoughts, progress, complaints, etc... That being said, I'm happy to have visitors, so please let me know if you stop by!
Well, yesterday was 100% on plan. Ok, I lied. Dinner last night was chili. The chili was totally on plan - it was a recipe posted on the slimgenics message board by Kim, who develops recipes for Slimgenics. My one cheat was I added about a tablespoon of fat free sour cream to my chili. All in all, I think that's a pretty successful day.
So far today, things are going well, but I'm hungry, and I've got at least another hour before I should eat one of my snacks. I should get busy at work to take my mind off of it.

Goal for today.
I should add my goal for the day. In our house, we have a cabinet full of chips, and my significant other is constantly baking cookies. We also have a drawer in our pantry full of candy. I don't buy chips or candy, but when they are easily accessible, I do eat them - same goes for the cookies. As much as I'd like to just get this stuff out of the house, I know that won't happen. I don't get much support from my SO when i t comes to weight loss (or anything else quite frankly), and when talking about this in the past he has said "just don't eat them." Well, if that worked, I probably would not be my current weight. Self control is not my forte. What I plan to do when I get home today is to consolidate all the chips, candy, cookies, etc...into one cabinet. I expect to have a fight on my hands - especially with the cookies which I do not want sitting out on the counter. I know if would be easy for me to open the cabinet door and get to any of these items, but I think at least getting them out from under my nose would help, and putting them all into one cabinet, which I have no business going into, is a step in the right direction. I've thought of putting a lock on the cabinet door, but that would result in a full out war - no need for that at this time.
So ... that went well.
So, I obviously didn't keep up with this blog. Still back and forth with Slimgenics. I do think the program works, it's just really hard for me to stick with it. I'm not sure why - it's not that I'm hungry, I just can't control the part of my brain that makes me eat things I shouldn't. Anyway - I'm again hoping that by memorializing my journey here, it will help to motivate me and keep me on track.
So, my last weight in was 12/7/13, and I weighed in at 296. I was pretty much off plan all of last week, so my guess is that I'm up at least 5 pounds if not more. While I may be off plan, I don't think calories are out of control, so I'm not sure why I still gain..
So far so good today. Breakfast was 3oz of greek yogurt, 1/4 blueberries, 1/4 fiber one cereal and a glass of skim milk. I had the required "snack" around 9:30 - a protein bar. Lunch was a small spinach salad and some chicken soup I made to be on plan - it's basically just making sure it's made with on plan veggies and controlling the amounts. My soup has green beans, cauliflower and kale. Too much kale really, but I did pick some out. I used 18 ounes of chicken breast (raw) when making this, so I divided it up into 6 servings.
I probably won't weigh in until tomorrow - that will give me another day to lose some of the water weight I'm sure I gained. Ugh.

Starting Over Again
This is my first attempt at a blog. For the general reader, it's just another weight loss blog. For me, it's a record of what I do on a day by day basis, so I can see what I do that is successful, and what I do that causes me to stall.
I've started and stopped the Slimgenics plan many many times. I have seen successes on this plan, but I keep letting myself get sidetracked and going off plan. This is my 87th attempt at a fresh start - hopefully this is the one that will take.
